Mrs. McGinnis grew up in the Cleveland Community of Johnston County and is a graduate of South Johnston. This will be her 9th year at Neuse working as a School Counselor. She completed her Bachelor's Degree at Peace College obtaining a Degree in Psychology with a minor in Human Resources. After completing her undergraduate degree, she went on to complete an M.Ed. at Campbell University in School Counseling. Prior to becoming a School Counselor, she worked at NCSU assisting in program research and completed an internship with the Department of Corrections in Mental Health. Her career as a school counselor began with Johnston County Schools in 2005. In 2010, she earned National Board Certification in School Counseling: Early Childhood Through Young Adulthood. She has over 18 years of experience as a School Counselor and Testing Coordinator having worked in elementary, middle and high school. In addition, Mrs. McGinnis continues to serve as a counseling supervisor for many new counselors entering the field.
Mrs. McGinnis currently lives in Selma, NC with her husband, children, and farm animals. She has one son and one daughter, they are both in high school. The family farm consists of horses, goats and other animals. She enjoys reading, singing, and spending time with family. The best times are spent traveling to places like Alaska and enjoying the RV life.
